About the stone

As a natural product, it is inherently earth-friendly. Natural stone currently offers many attractive, environmentally friendly attributes, including an enduring life-cycle, durability, ease of care and maintenance, recyclability, and quarry and manufacturing best practices.

Using natural stone shows that you take responsibility to care for the earth by actively striving to preserve, restore or improve the natural environment. Conserving resources, preventing pollution, and minimizing waste are some ways the stone industry is working to be eco-friendly through green building.

For centuries, stone has been used by nearly all civilizations. Each corner of the world and each layer of earth yields a multitude of stone varieties, and a uniqueness within each stone, giving you a vast palette of possible applications wherewith to create your masterpiece.

Like the unique personality of your home, no two natural stones are the same. Finding stone that fits your design — color, pattern and movement — is a four-step process that is as exciting as it is personal.

Step 1:

Determine which type of stone fits your design — granite, limestone, marble, travertine, quartz, onyx, etc.

Step 2:

View the entire slab to consider color, pattern and movement.
Your fabricator may show you samples or send you directly to Coldspring Stone Selection Center to make a choice.
Remember: no two stones are alike. The more closely you examine the slab that will become part of your home, the more confident you will be in how it will align with your design.

Step 3:

Wait until 30 days or fewer remain before installation to make your final selection. A good measure is to decide about the time the sheetrock is installed in a new home or remodel.

Step 4:

Once you’ve decided, your fabricator will purchase the slab(s), fabricate them to specifications and install them according to the schedule of the build.
